edge-blank

no blank line right after { or right before }

Applies to blocks: function bodies, if, loop, try, catch and finally blocks, and static blocks. Not to a switch or to the body of a case, and not when { and } share a line. It removes the blank lines directly after the { and directly before the }. A comment on the same line as the { extends the opener, so blank lines after that comment go too.

It runs outside the gap order, so no other rule outranks it. Two things cancel it: stanza-ignore on the first or last statement of the block keeps the blank line next to that statement, and a stanza-off region leaves the edges inside it alone. See Directives.

A blank line between a leading comment and the statement under it is neither an edge nor a gap. Stanza leaves it where it is.
